Some folks look forward to the school breaks; spending quality time together, doing “all the things” and making memories. Others dread it; keeping bored children and spouses entertained, thinking of things to do and generally trying not to just flip-flop around the house. Well, you’re in luck either way because if there’s a day in your diary that isn’t filled, we’ve got you covered. TYP are super proud to have teamed up with Buy a Gift to embark on an epic journey of experience days to keep you and your small humans entertained at any time of year.

Yorkshire; “God’s Country” apparently and pretty damn gorgeous if I do say so myself. I’m biased, I live here but for many it is a go-to spot to climb the hills, see the sights, drink real ale and eat amazing grub at some damn fine establishments. We’re pretty hospitable too! So if you live here and need something to do, or you’re thinking of paying us a visit (check out Gorgeous Cottages if you’re giving us more than 12 hours!) here are some of the experiences we’re recommending with a cool 15% off especially for being a member of The Puddin’ Club – cute!

Laugh until everything hurts

There’s nothing better than giggling to sooth the soul. You could be in the foulest of moods and a decent joke, hilarious situation and slap-stick quandary can change your attitude right around for the better. Why not treat you and the family (over 18’s only) to a night of laughs with tickets for two (£15)four (£20) or six (£30) people in Leeds? The more you buy the cheaper it is and of course, you have the exclusive 15% off to add to that too!

  1. Take in a bit of History

Uncover the captivating history of law and order in Yorkshire with unlimited, year-long family entry to the Ripon Museums. Discover the tough conditions of a Victorian prison with a visit to the Prison and Police Museum, while the Courthouse Museum offers a unique glimpse into a courtroom of the 1800s, with the chance to experience standing in the dock and awaiting your sentence. The Workhouse Museum is housed by the Gatehouse building – part of a larger workhouse site – and has been carefully maintained in order to provide visitors with a real sense of what life was like in a Victorian workhouse. Each museum offers a fun and fascinating day out every member of the family can enjoy!

  1. Eau de Entertainment

If you or your tweens like a nice scent and fancy having a dabble yourself, this is the workshop for you. Enjoy creating your very own perfume at The Perfume Studio. You’ll have lots of fun as you’ll be joined by a Master Perfumer who will talk you through the journey of perfume discovery. This knowledge will then be used to help you construct your fragrance. Your signature fragrance will be formed from a choice of 18 blends. You can include as many as you want to create your pretty 5ml bottle of your very own perfume. All you need to do is name it! You’ll receive a certificate of authenticity and registration of your perfume with its chosen name….The Yorkshire Pudding doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as Chanel….:(

  1. Cook up a Storm

Ripon, North Yorkshire set’s the scene for some amazing family day trips but, why not treat your budding Delia’s and Jamie’s to a Children’s Cookery Course at Swinton Park (6 years and older). Swinton Park itself is a 17th-century castle surrounded by 200 acres of parkland and is a regal hotel and spa in it’s own right…very nice indeed! You could treat yourself whilst the small people are entertained, with Garden Lunch for two or the premier garden visit with afternoon tea for two both available at Swinton Park too! If Sushi is more your bag, or leaf 🙂 haha, then why not try the Sushi Making Workshops available in three locations around Yorkshire.

  1. Sing Like No-one is Listening

If you have a budding singer or performer on your hands then there is no better way to treat them this summer than with one of the brilliant Songmaker packages available. Why spend hours queuing with them to sing for a grumpy man with a very high waistband, when you can skip straight to the good bit and let them record their very own professional-quality track? They’ll have their very own session in a real recording studio, with state-of-the-art equipment. They’ll get to enter the vocal booth and lay down their track, with hours to get everything just right, then join the engineer at the mixing desk to add effects, smooth the vocals, and help influence the sound of the finished track as much as you like. The professional engineer will mix your track, which will then be emailed to you after the experience. Packages include SilverGold or Video and Video for two which also gives you the opportunity to star in your own pop video to accompany the song. Using state-of-the-art technology, your performance will be transformed into something extra special that you’ll want to show to everyone!

  1. Meet the Meerkats

Are your clan more observers than a performers or do you just fancy a cuddle with some small furries? Here’s your chance to get up close and personal with adorable meerkats. A perfect treat for any animal lover, you’ll both get to meet, hold and discover the clever personalities of these tame and cute mammals. At whichever location is convenient for you, knowledgeable staff will give you insightful facts on these inquisitive animals and will be on hand to help and answer any questions. Go and see for yourselves why meerkats have captured the hearts of countless people around the world.

  1. Capture the Moment

Learn to take control of your camera with the help of experienced instructors to achieve the pictures you want. On this one day digital photography experience you will be shown how to capture the photographs you want with the camera you already have, no matter how simple or complicated it may be. Your instructor will run through the controls of the camera, picking out the ones that really make a difference, and the basics of composition. You’ll use this new knowledge to take pictures that fully capture your impression of the location. You’ll then have your pictures reviewed, whilst being provided with a constructive critique of the technical and creative aspects of your pictures. Locations run on weekdays and at weekends at venues nationwide that were hand-picked to provide interesting photographs and a variety of subjects. Groups are small with no more than twelve people, and usually less than six. A great choice for any photography enthusiast over the age of 12. Packages are available as single or for two but can be combined for a family.

An expert instructor will push this amazing supercar to the limit as you tear around one of 5 top tracks UK wide; all you need to do is hold on tight and prepare for the ride of your lives!

  1. Chocolate Delight

This Workshop experience is a chocoholic’s dream day! Arrive at the convenient location of your choice and you’ll be welcomed with a chocolate fountain! What better way could there be to start the day? Delicious flowing molten chocolate and tasty treats to dip into it, a fitting experience to begin your chocolate adventure. Your friendly instructor will teach you all about the history of the world’s favourite sweet treat as you work together to create a unique filling for your truffles. You can be as traditional or inventive as you like and you’ll learn how to encase your tasty filling in sumptuous Belgian chocolate. Next, you’ll make a funky design for the top then package the choc in a gorgeous presentation bag – once again, your imagination is the limit. You’ll proudly take home 40-50 Belgian chocolates, beautifully packaged. You don’t have to share them, of course but you could share the experience and get the Workshop for Two
